Leonie Green is the National President of the Australian Democrats and a candidate for the North-Eastern Metropolitan Region in the 2026 Victorian election.
Leonie is a lifelong resident of the region, having grown up in Nunawading before living in Vermont and settling in Mitcham, where she and her husband raised their now-adult daughter.
Leonie began her career in employment law before moving into human resources. She now runs her own consulting practice, working as an accredited mediator, leadership coach and consultant. Her professional life has centred on helping people navigate difficult issues, find common ground and reach practical, fair outcomes.
As National President, Leonie has played a central role in rebuilding the Australian Democrats and strengthening the party’s governance and organisational capacity. She has worked alongside members and volunteers across the country, bringing people together around a shared belief in honest, evidence-based and constructive politics.
Leonie nominated as a candidate in this election because she believes the Legislative Council needs thoughtful, independent-minded voices willing to scrutinise decisions and work across political divides. She sees this as central to the role of the Australian Democrats.
Leonie believes that changing politics starts with changing how we do politics — listening carefully, working together, making evidence-informed decisions and remaining accountable to the people we serve.
Change Politics - Together.
