Australian Democrats Submit Victorian Party Registration Application

The Australian Democrats have formally submitted our application to register as a political party with the Victorian Electoral Commission.

This is a significant milestone for our party and an important step towards returning a strong, independent and principled democratic voice to Victorian politics.

Our application has been made possible by the substantial growth of the Australian Democrats in Victoria and by the commitment of members who believe our political system can—and must—do better.

Over recent months, we have welcomed a growing number of new members from communities across Victoria. People are joining because they want greater integrity in government, practical and evidence-based policy, responsible economic management and representatives who are prepared to put the public interest ahead of political games.

Your support has helped bring us to this point. Every membership strengthens our movement, demonstrates the growing demand for political change and helps us build the organisation needed to contest elections effectively.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers and longstanding members who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Registering a political party requires considerable organisation, persistence and attention to detail, and this submission reflects an extraordinary collective effort.

Our application will now proceed through the Victorian Electoral Commission’s formal assessment process. While that process continues, our work does not stop.

Membership is continuing to grow, and we are now focused on building an even stronger presence throughout Victoria. We are developing local networks, preparing future candidates, expanding our volunteer base and ensuring Victorians have a genuine alternative at the ballot box.

The Australian Democrats have always believed that democracy works best when governments are held accountable, evidence matters and elected representatives serve the community rather than vested interests.

That mission is as important today as it has ever been.
